After the mining era ended, Utö was transformed into archipelago's first real seaside resort. Artists and writers arrived by boats and took over the abandoned miners' homes. Among them were composer and singer Evert Taube, painter and sculptor Anders Zorn, poet and writer August Strindberg, actress Greta Garbo. Swedish artist Fanny Hjelm was the first summer guest at Lurgatan 5 or Kråkebo, as she nicknamed the house. Years later she sold it to Hasse Z (Hans Harald "Hasse" Zetterström) a prominent Swedish author, columnist and editor.
