The Karlstad shows

Sävegatan 7, 654 63 Karlstad, Sweden

The two Karlstad shows took place on the 25th of October 1963 in the large assembly hall of Sundsta school (Sundstaaulan), which is one of the town’s public arenas. The first concert started at 19:00 and the second one at 21:00. The venue which could accommodate 750 people was only 75% filled during both of the concerts. The tickets cost between 12 and 20 SEK (1.2 - 2 EUR at current rates of exchange).

Several bands performed before The Beatles got on the stage: Svend Miller's Popstars, Ken Levy & the Phantoms and Jack Daily.

The Beatles song set was:
‘Please Please Me’
‘I Saw Her Standing There’
‘From Me To You’
‘A Taste Of Honey’
‘Boys’
‘She Loves You’
‘Twist And Shout’

There was no afterparty, and when the second show was over John, Paul, George and Ringo went back to the hotel for dinner and rest. On the next morning they were heading back to Stockholm. Karlstad’s morning papers were full of comments: the loud, long-haired, British guys certainly made an impression!
