Shaken, not Stirred at Hôtel de Paris

Pl. du Casino, 98000 Monaco

Hôtel de Paris has been featured in two James Bond films: “Never Say Never Again” (1983) and “GoldenEye” (1995). The nearby Monte Carlo Casino is also closely tied to the films. In “Never Say Never Again” Bond (Sean Connery) attends the Charity Ball in the casino. In “GoldenEye”, Bond (Pierce Brosnan) meets Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen) inside the casino.

Other films where you can spot Hôtel de Paris include “Confessions of a Cheat” (1936), “The Red Shoes” (1948), “Priceless” (“Hors de prix”, 2006) with Audrey Tautou, “Iron Man 2” (2010) with Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson, and “Monte Carlo” (2011).

In 1971 Lord Brett Sinclair (Roger Moore) and Danny Wilde (Tony Curtis) met for the first time at the bar of this hotel in the first episode of the television series "The Persuaders!".

From its very beginning, Hôtel de Paris has been a cherished rendezvous point for the glamorous crowd, boasting Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, and Roger Moore among its regulars. Princess Grace held it in such high regard that it was considered one of her most beloved destinations. In more recent times, Lady Gaga, Michael Jordan, Julia Roberts, and a host of other prominent visitors have chosen to grace the hotel with their presence for a night or two.

Bonus fact: the world-famous fashion photographer Helmut Newton loved to use Hôtel de Paris as his shooting location.
