Banksy’s Phone Tap

Chrisp Street, London E14 6BP, UK

This mural by Banksy refers to Rupert Murdoch’s phone-hacking scandal of 2011 when journalists were phone and voicemail hacking. It is a great example of how Banksy incorporates the natural urban environment into his murals, and of his ironic wordplay. A real tap serves as part of the artwork, the tap is ringing and the cartoon character humorously exclaims, "oh no, my tap’s been phoned”.

Bonus fact: next to Banksy you can find a gigantic mural by Irony & Boe. This striking chihuahua was done back in 2014 by the street artists who are famous for their animal style murals. You can’t miss it!
