The Titans, Doctor Who and the Fast and the Furious

Las Cañadas del Teide, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

There are few places in the world which look as surreal and alien as Teide National Park. Unsurprisingly, it is featured in many films and series.
“Clash of the Titans” (2010) is one of the most famous films shot in Tenerife. In the scenes, one can recognize the amazing Teide landscapes. The sequel “Wrath of the Titans”(2012) also has scenes set in the Canary Islands.

Other movies filmed here include “The Fast and the Furious 6” and “Doctor Who” Season 9.

There would have been many more of them for sure, had it not been so difficult to organize the sets. Teide is a protected area, and there are strict rules and regulations one has to follow. Even just moving the scenery to the site becomes an incredibly difficult task. While working on “Clash of the Titans”, all the equipment and everything else (including huge scorpions) had to be taken as far as possible by cars, then disassembled and carried to the set by hand. The model and equipment stood high on a hill for four days. And the film crew was afraid every night that they would be blown away.
