The Skeleton on the hill

Av. Berlín, 51, 38379 La Matanza de Acentejo, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

This abandoned building called by the locals El Esqueleto (meaning “the skeleton” in Spanish) is a hotel project from the 1970s which was never completed. High on a hill, almost balancing on the edge, stands this 15-storey wall-less structure, the closest thing to a skeleton. A somewhat controversial place as it ruins the seaview for the nearby residents who have been asking for its demolition for years, but it is still there.
Below, there is a constructed path (Paseo Costa del Sauzal, about 45-60 min) offering lovely views of the sea and the coast. Look out for traces of the old fishing towns that used to be located here in the rock formations.
