Grand Hotel Rimini

Parco Federico Fellini 47921, 47921 Rimini RN, Italy

Since its inauguration in 1908, Grand Hotel Rimini has been a part of the history of Italy, protagonist of the story of the Riviera development and of the Italian tourism. It is a landmark and a national monument. Its guest list includes celebrities and aristocrats, Nobel laureates, politicians and kings. The legendary hotel is also closely connected with Federico Fellini who once called it “a fairy tale of richness, luxury and oriental splendor”.

When he grew up, Fellini became a friend of the owner and used to spend a good deal of time at the hotel. Rumor has it that one of Fellini's hobbies was sitting in the lobby and watching the work of telephone operators. The facade and the interiors of the hotel were featured many times in his films, including Amarcord.

After moving to Rome, Fellini used to stay at the Grand Hotel while visiting his hometown. Sadly, it was here that he suffered a stroke on 3 August 1993, which became the cause of his death in Rome on October 31st of the same year.
