Casa Romana Varela

Erytheia | Jardines de Varela Norte Park, Av. Constitución de 1812, Cádiz, Spain

Nestled in Jardin Erytheia Varela Norte park lies the remarkable archaeological remains of a Roman dwelling known as Casa Romana Varela.

During the excavation of this house, discovered 2.50 meters below the ground surface, some of the most remarkable findings were the distinctive floors. These floors, adorned with marble, are believed by experts to be the foundational layer, suggesting the possibility of mosaics or other embellishments atop the marble. It is also proposed that the various rooms were adorned with diverse colors.

While a selection of these floors is on display at the Museo de Cadiz, a portion remains at the original archaeological site, allowing visitors a firsthand glimpse of this historical treasure.
