Paseo Maritimo Antonio Mercero, Nerja, Málaga, Spain
In 2001, twenty years after the first episode of Verano Azul was aired, Playa Burriana’s seafront promenade was named after the creator of the series, Antonio Mercero. Born in 1936 in Lasarte-Oria in northern Spain, Mercero will never be forgotten in Nerja because he chose it as the setting for his television drama series and changed the fate of the town.
Today, decades later, Playa Burriana is mistakenly recognizable, not least because of the lift that is still in operation taking the Parador hotel guests down to the beach and back.
