Ahch-To – The Last Jedi

Skellig Michael, County Kerry, Ireland

Skellig Michael, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a remote rocky island off the coast of Ireland, famous for its ancient monastic settlements and dramatic sea cliffs. The island was chosen to represent Ahch-To, the hidden refuge of Luke Skywalker, where Rey seeks training in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

The island’s real-life stone huts, built by monks over a thousand years ago, were used as inspiration for Luke’s dwelling. The location’s inaccessibility made filming a challenge, with the crew having to transport equipment via boat and helicopter. However, the stunning cinematography captured the rugged beauty of the island, making it one of the most memorable locations in the sequel trilogy.
