The stone in the pavement of the Cathedral square marks a historic event. On August 23, 1989, about two million people held hands across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia to make the Baltic Way, the longest human chain in history, over 370 miles long. It spanned from Tallinn, Estonia and continued through Riga, Latvia and ended here in Vilnius, Lithuania, right at this spot. Two years later the countries became independent.
The stone, "stebuklas" (miracle), is said to have wish-granting properties. All you need to do is to spin around 3 times, jump and clap hands.
