The eye-catching Aguila Aqueduct, also known as "El Puente del Aguila" (Eagle's Bridge), was built in the 19th century to transport water to the San Joaquín de Maro Sugar mill (read my story about it at https://reveal.world/story/a-remnant-of-the-sugar-coast) The structure is 40 meters high with 4 rows of magnificent arches (38 arches in total) that stretch over the Barranco de la Coladilla ravine. In the upper part in the middle there is a pinnacle with a double-headed eagle-shaped weathervane, which gives the aqueduct its name. The sugar factory has been abandoned for decades now, but the aqueduct is still being used by the local farmers for irrigation.

It is difficult to get close to the aqueduct (you will need to go down to the ravine), but you can admire it from the bridge on road N-340. There are sidewalks on both sides of the bridge, and space to park your car on each side of the road after the bridge.
