Back in the 60s La Giaconda was a well-known musicians’ hangout, frequented by pop, rock and punk icons including David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Page, Elton John, Jimmy Hendrix, Paul Simon, the Clash and the Sex Pistols to name a few.

David Bowie practically lived here for a while, in a campervan parked just outside the cafe. Allegedly, it was here David Bowie met the musicians for his band The Lower Third.

Unfortunately, the cafe no longer exists but there is a memorial plaque reminding of it.
