Do you remember Valery Legasov’s hotel room where he stayed while investigating the catastrophe in Pripyat and where we saw him talking on the phone over and over again? This room and these scenes were filmed in an abandoned Soviet guest house for high-level officials. This building, reminiscent of the Soviet era and the meetings that took place within it, fit extremely well into the atmosphere of the series.

During the 1970s-1980s, there were very few hotels in Vilnius, and the existing ones did not meet the high security requirements. This is why it was decided to build a special guest house here in Žvėrynas. The list of its famous guests includes Richard Nixon, Mikhail Gorbachev and his wife Raisa Gorbacheva, Lech Wałęsa, astronaut Valentina Tereshkova, and patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Alexei II.
