Calle Antonio Ferrandis Chanquete, 6, 29780 Nerja, Málaga, Spain
Walking the streets of Nerja you may find a simple fishing boat placed like an important monument on a pedestal close to Verano Azul Park. Why?
One of the main characters in the Spanish TV series “Verano Azul”, the retired fisherman Chanquete, liked to play the accordion and lived on a fishing boat La Dorada stranded on top of a hill.
The original white, red and blue fishing boat no longer exists, but Nerja proudly presents a full scale replica of La Dorada which is placed at the entrance to the town center in Calle Antonio Ferrandis Chanquete - a street named in honour of the popular actor and his character. It was erected as a monument to commemorate the massive expansion of tourism in the town which has helped to boost Nerja´s economy.
The nearby park is dedicated to the series, read my story here https://api.reveal.world/story/1685
