Runestone U379

Olofsgatan 4, 193 30 Sigtuna, Sweden

The stone stands on the terrace south of St Mary’s Church.

“The guild brethren of  the Frisians had this stone set up in memory of  Torkel their guild brother. God help his soul. Torbjörn carved”.

The Frisian guild is also mentioned on the boulder U391 at Prästgatan also carved by  Torbjörn.  The  names  Þorbiorn  and  Þorkell  were  common during the Viking Age and are still in use in Scandinavia.
