Planet Vogsphere, the home of the  Vogons, was filmed in the Trefil limestone quarry in Wales. This is where Arthur, Marvin, Zaphod Beeblebrox and Ford walk away from their craft after landing on the Vogsphere. 

Trefil quarry was opened in 1794 and played an important role in Blaenau Gwent history due to the demand from the nearby furnaces in Tredegar and Ebbw Vale and ironworks at Beaufort. It was closed about a century ago.

Note: the land is private, but there is a public right of way through the area enabling access with care.
