John Snow pub

39 Broadwick street, London, UK

Are you thinking of the popular character from the Game of Thrones? Wrong! The pub was actually named after a physician who lived in the area in the 19th century. During the cholera outbreak, he was the first one to guess that contaminated water, not air, spread the disease. The Broad Street water pump helped him to make this discovery. A recently restored replica of this very important pump stands just outside the pub. Check out the water pump story here https://reveal.world/story/1288
