“In Twin Peaks, we specialize in cherry pie and huckleberry pie. We do have many other types of pie, and at the Double R Diner, Norma knows how to make them all better than anyone I have ever known.”
The Double R Diner might be fictional, but the Twede’s Cafe is quite real. Called Mar-T Cafe at the time, it was used as the Double R Diner filming location and the model for the Hollywood stage set where some of the scenes were done. The cafe was destroyed by fire in 2000 but later restored reflecting the original Double R Diner interior. The late renovations were a part of the production of the 3rd season of Twin Peaks and reported as permanent.
“This must be where pies go when they die.”
