Every Stockholmer knows Sturehof. What started as a beer bar in 1897 is today a very popular restaurant and hangout place in Stureplan. Not so many know though that automobile giant Volvo was born here. In August 1924 former colleagues engineer Gustav Larson and economist Assar Gabrielsson accidently met here, both attracted by fresh crayfish on the menu. They started talking about cars and why doesn’t Sweden have own automobile production. One thing led to another and they reached an agreement there and then to start a company. One month later, the work has begun and three years later the first car left the factory.
