Have you seen “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” starring Daniel Craig as the famous detective Benoit Blanc? The movie centers around a murder mystery unfolding on a Greek island in a luxurious mansion named Glass Onion owned by billionaire tech entrepreneur Miles Bron. This stunning mansion with breathtaking views does actually exist on the coast of the Aegean sea - in real life as a luxury resort called Amanzoe near Porto Heli in Greece.
You can see much of the hotel in the film, but mostly - hotel's Villa 20. According to Amanzoe, the villa is a "masterpiece" inspired by the Acropolis: "Created in harmony with the surrounding landscape, the villa cascades down a hillside in six tiers of sculpture-dotted fragrant gardens. It features nine bedrooms and six private pools, a 650 square-meter spa, combining elegant indoor-outdoor living and space to sleep up to 18 guests.”
For the film director Rian Johnson, this location was a product of Covid-19 pandemic and a deliberate decision as he wanted to make a "vacation mystery". "I wanted to be on a beach vacation more than anything,” he told Netflix in September, talking about the period when he was writing the film in the middle of 2020 lockdowns.
Bonus fact: the billionaire's guests’ meeting point is on a nearby beautiful island of Spetses, at the main port.
