Vinterviken’s harbour

Vinterviken, Stockholm, Sweden

A harbor was built in Vinterviken next to the northern side of the bay, in the area called Rävudden, to accommodate the Nobel factory's big boat dock. The dynamite was transported from the quay partly on barges for further transport on Lake Mälaren or by horse carriages equipped with a red warning flag to Liljeholmen's railway station. There was also a narrow-gauge railway leading to the boat dock that carried goods between the factory premises and the port area.

The quay and buildings are long gone. However one can see a smaller dock that was refurbished and serves as a summer deck for bathers.
